Making the Bluetooth Connection
The BraillePens support Bluetooth connections with the main types of Bluetooth providers. These may be built in to a device, or they may be a USB-based add-on for a PC or netbook.
On phones and similar devices, the BraillePens connect automatically with Apple devices running iPhoneOS4, manually with Nokia phones running SymbianOS and automatically with our own software BraillePen Mobile running on a Windows Mobile PDA or Smartphone.
On a PC or netbook running Windows XP or higher, the four supported Bluetooth providers are listed below.
With each of following types of adapter, BraillePen Write will connect automatically. However, if you wish to pair your BraillePen with a PC for other uses, the following sets of instructions may be helpful:
- Microsoft drivers, described in the User Guide;
- Toshiba (see pairing with the Toshiba Bluetooth Adapter);
- Broadcomm WIDCOMM; (see pairing with the Broadcom WIDCOMM® Bluetooth Adaptor)
- Blue Soleil (see pairing with the BlueSoleil drivers).
